Gens. John Burgoyne, Henry Clinton, and William Howe arrive in Boston.
May 25, 1775
They arrive, aptly enough, on board the man-of-war HMS Cerberus, named for the mythical three-headed dog that guards the gates of hell, at Long Wharf. Sent to assist military governor Gen. Thomas Gage in controlling the increasingly rebellious citizens in and around Boston, they are met by a carriage and escorted to Gage’s residence at the Province House.
